Campaigns
Scotland’s Learning Partnership organises and delivers 3 national learning campaigns annually, Adult Learners' Week, the new and improved Family Learning Month and the one for everyone One Hour a Day for Learning. Throughout 2008 we will be focusing the campaigns on intercultural dialogue and creativity.
So why not get creative and work out ways you could help others learn about your culture and traditions. Scotland has long held a tradition for being first in a number of things from engineering to science, sport to learning. So why don’t most Scot’s think that learning will be part of their future? Could it be that we associate learning with difficult times, or poor experiences, or is it that what we’re being offered just doesn’t hit the mark? That’s why with our partners we are looking to find new ways of getting people involved and getting them into something they enjoy. When you get the bug it’s hard to shake off, but definitely one you’ll want to keep.
Our 3 campaigns are designed to work with our partners to reach out to adults and families who might not otherwise think that learning was for them. In 2007 the campaigns programme attracted over 94,000 people to local and national events across Scotland. The campaigns work locally to raise awareness of the learning opportunities that exist in each community and to celebrate the achievements of those who have participated in it and to get new people to try something new. Last year over half of the participants in the campaigns programme went on to take part in community life.
In May 2008 adult learners’ week will celebrate seventeen successful years and thanks to the hard work and determination of our partner organisations, it has become the most successful learning campaign in Scotland. With now over 7,500 people and organisations working with us on this year's campaign we know it’s going to be a success-so what can you do to help? Throughout the year we’ll be hosting a series of ideas days to help you decide what to do, how to do it and who to do it with. Look out for details in the events section of this website…
Let’s create something great in 2008!
